Balule- Last Day part 2

On the bridge over the Olifants river I stopped and noticed that there was a dead giraffe in the water and it was surrounded by crocs.  They were leisurely working their way through the giraffe.

But then a really brute swam up.  I enlarged his body and then showed it relative to the giraffe.  It was huge!

Because it was getting late I decided to head back to Balule.  I was feeling grotty and feverish so I took a slow ride back.  And who should we find on the road but the King himself.  He and the other male were only 4 km from the Balule camp.

Then only 2km or so from the camp I discovered that there is a clan of hyenas living in a culvert right on the road.  I'd driven over it at least 4 times before that and seen nothing.  But this evening everyone was out.  The one was playing with the upper part of a warthog skull replete with its tusks!  I think the warthog would have objected but then again, maybe it did!  The light was too bad to shoot but I did take some video footage.

Surrounded by crocs...

Easy meal

Check his teeth!

Compare his size to the full grown giraffe...

I almost expected him to charge the car in front of me.  He got this intense look, like "Do it again, bud..."

Maybe when I wake up they'll be gone...

Nope.
